This week, we had the pleasure of hosting the School District of Lee County Food and Nutrition Services for an enriching farm tour at Stitt Ranch.🌽

Jonathan Allen guided our guests through our corn and cabbage harvest, showcasing our commitment to fresh, locally sourced produce. During their visit, the team had the opportunity to experience firsthand the process of pulling corn and harvesting cabbage. We even enjoyed cutting some cabbage for them right from the field!🥬

Our guests then joined us for a delicious lunch at our office, fostering valuable connections. As the tour concluded, they made their way to a photo op with our gourmet truck, and then we welcomed them inside the facilities, where we proudly displayed our tray packs and demonstrated the bean and corn lines in full operation. This offered an immersive experience, allowing them to engage with our farming practices firsthand.

At RC Hatton Farms, we take pride in our longstanding partnership with the School District of Lee County Food and Nutrition Services, supplying their students with fresh vegetables since 2021. You may recall our exciting corn-shucking contest with them earlier this school year, another memorable collaboration!

Posted @withregram • @flafruitandveg “Earlier this month, ELDP Class 13 toured several farm operations in the Everglades Agricultural Area, where they gained insights into production methods and processing techniques for a diverse range of crops, from bell peppers, celery, and iceberg lettuce to sugar cane and sweet corn.

👉 The class had the opportunity to see multiple stages of the sugar cane harvesting process, including observing freshly harvested cane being transported for processing via railcars and touring the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative mill where they saw raw sugar awaiting processing.

😎 To close out the trip, FFVA board member Paul Orsenigo arranged for Class 13 to explore Lake O by airboat and learn about the essential water source and the area’s rich agricultural history.
