Tellus Opens in Belle Glade, FL

Tellus, a newly opened packaging company based right here in Belle Glade, Florida has created 50 new jobs and anticipates creating at least 50 more. (WFLX, 2018) The innovative company recycles leftover sugarcane fiber from the sugar milling process and converts it to packaging and foodservice products such as plates, bowls, and take-out containers. As a vertically integrated manufacturing facility, Tellus runs partially on renewable biomass power provided from the sugar mill and solar energy, which makes it an extremely efficient and environmentally sustainable manufacturing facility.

Tellus is jointly owned by Florida Crystals Corporation and Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida. These parent companies are made up of more than 40 family farms like us, & are responsible for growing more than 280,000 acres of sugarcane in South Florida!

About 90 percent of their workforce was hired locally so far. Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam has praised Tellus in stating, “Florida grown crop, with Florida grown technology, creating Florida grown jobs.”

We encourage you to learn more about Tellus by visiting their website & following them on Facebook & Instagram.
