On February 23rd, Farm Manager Jonathan Allen was a guest speaker at Glades Day School’s Future Farmers of America Career Day. In celebration of National FFA Week, Ms. Gabriela Hernandez, Agriscience Teacher at Glades Day, invited Jonathan to join other local ag industry professionals to present and network with students in grades 7th through 12th. Jonathan shared his story as a Glades Day alum who has been in ag for decades. He spoke about what it’s like to be in such a rewarding career supplying our nation with food. He also explained why agriculture is so vital to the Glades area and why our region is so well-known for producing such a large percentage of the crops that our country depends on. After educating students on micro-climate and describing a day in the life of a farm manager, Jonathan answered questions from the students, and gave out RC Hatton Farms hats, which were highly coveted! Jonathan was very excited to have the opportunity to share about his role in agriculture and connect with our future generations of farmers and agribusiness professionals! Thank you to Ms. Hernandez for inviting us to be a part of this event! Happy National FFA Week!
